Our story

PTAE’s story can be traced back to 1978, when our Director at the time, Reg, set up shop in operating as Pottery Supplies.

In 1995, we moved our shop onto the same site as our mass storage. These days, we remain a family-run business, with Erin continuing to work in our shop and attached office – although the advent of the internet has changed how many of our customers shop with us.

We’re open Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 4.30pm, and the first Saturday of any month, 10am to 4.30pm. Whether you’re planning a trip to see us or you prefer to order online, we value every single one of our customers and look forward to meeting you.

Erin Cramer

Owner/Manager, Ceramic Artist/Potter, General Dogs Body, Amazing Listener, Amateur Comedian LOL

Cramer has been running Pottery Tools and Equipments from its inception. Cramer has a wealth of experience in wheel throwing, mould making and glaze experimentation, plus much, much more, and also creates her own line of bespoke homewares under the brand.

You can find Cramer in the studio on most days usually chatting with everyone and drinking coffee (or red wine in the evening!) when she’s not attending markets or chasing after her angelic granddaughter. Cramer also likes to shop and is a self professed shopaholic always finding something new to add to the studio or her home.

Lori Cook

Ceramic Artist/Studio Assistant

Lori fell in love with ceramics 10 years ago when she took a class at her local community arts centre. She loves painting geometric artworks onto her handmade pieces. Lori creates anything from wall hangings and platters to tables and everything in between.

Lori can be found out the back in the manufacturing department in charge of slip casting, mould making, and kiln management, and can often be heard belting out the words to her favourite songs on the radio. She is also our resident handbuilding expert and is beloved by her regular Monday night students who rely on her skill, patience, and passion.

Tricia Woodland

Ceramic Artist/Studio Assistant

Tricia first joined us during an internship while she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Ceramics) at RMIT University; and after graduation, we knew we couldn’t let her go!
Tricia is often busy out the back with slip casting, manufacturing, and kiln management, but also steps in to teach at the wheel.
She has been developing her own range of work and style, started selling her creations at markets, and hopes to explore her passion for Japanese ceramics in future.

Georgie Waldron

Part-time Admin Assistant/Potter

Geobegan as a student here and has been potting for about the last 7 years, Geo can be found in the studio on most Saturdays and assists in the day to day running of the studio taking care of stock levels and general studio admin as well as assisting in teaching the beginners on the wheel.

When not here at work or her regular 9 to 5 job, she has a love of sewing and reading almost anything she can get her hands on.
